About Clare

A copywriter and editor by trade, Clare has been working with words for over 15 years as partner and co-founder of Stranger Collective.

From shipwrecks to supercomputers, nitrate film to string theory, she’s worked with brands of different shapes and sizes and discovered all manner of things. But underneath everything, the same instinct drives her – find the story and tell it well. That’s what readers connect with, after all.

In 2010 she began to get serious about fiction writing. She set up local reading night Telltales, tinkered with indie publishing in the form of The Parabola Project, performed her short stories at Port Eliot Festival and the Eden Sessions and began submitting…

Since then, she’s been published in newspapers, journals and collections, listed and commended for prizes and won apprenticeships to work on her fiction. In 2021 she was listed for the Lucy Cavendish Prize.

Clare lectures in Professional Writing at Falmouth University and is represented by Laurie Robertson at Peters Fraser Dunlop. She’s currently writing her first novel.
