Read Between the Wines is a book group with a difference. Simultaneously celebrating the art of wordsmithery and the beauty of wine craft, we pair a short story with a selection of three wines and open the floor to taste, discover and discuss.
Amiable and accessible rather than challenging and erudite, it’s a lighthearted, interactive and lively evening, where everyone’s opinions and tastes are welcome.
You’ll get a copy of the story to read beforehand as well as a performance of the story on the night itself. We’ll then draw on the insights and expertise of our resident wine expert who’ll walk us through a tailored tasting, highlighting each wine’s flavour notes, synergies and connections with the story.
Our chosen short story for the evening is 'To Enter the Garden' by Leila Aboleula, featured in the wonderful The Poet & the Echo collection. It's a subtle, masterfully-crafted coming of age tale of liminal worlds, conflict and perception. A real beauty of a story, 'To Enter the Garden' will make for rich reading, tasting and discussion.
